What should I do if the devices under warranty don’t work?

If the product is under warranty, we invite you to return the product to the store where you purchased it, as LAICA provides assistance directly from its Office through its retailers. In order to obtain a replacement, you must have the purchase receipt for the product or a stamped warranty card. If you encountered problems at the retailer, please contact LAICA directly at +39 0444/795314 and we will explain the procedure to follow to the retailer.

What should I do if a device doesn’t work but is no longer under warranty?

If the product is no longer under warranty, it must be mailed to the LAICA headquarters in Barbarano Vicentino at the customer’s expense. In this case, the customer must contact our customer service by mail or by telephone at +39 0444/795314 (Monday to Friday from 4 pm to 6 pm) to obtain an authorisation code so that the LAICA warehouse can accept the package. Once the device’s problem has been assessed, the customer will be contacted and informed of any repair / replacement costs. If the estimated cost is considered too high, we will dispose of the product free of charge.

VACUUM PACKING MACHINES

The appliance does not create a full vacuum in the bag
  • Possible cause: The bag is not properly positioned inside the suction chamber and liquid collector.
    Solution: Position the bag as described in the “Instructions – Use with bags” section.
  • Possible cause: The sealing bar may have overheated: this happens when many items are sealed in quick succession.
    Solution: Wait a few minutes to allow the bar to cool down. Wait at least 60 seconds between sealing one item and the next.
The bag does not remain vacuum-packed after being sealed
  • Possible cause: The bag could have a hole.
    Solution: Check the bag for holes or replace it with a new one.
  • Possible cause: The edge of the bag is not perfectly clean.
    Solution: Check that there is no dirt along the seal such as crumbs, grease, etc. Reopen the bag and try to seal it again.
The bag melts and does not seal properly
  • Possible cause: The sealed area of the bag is dirty or not perfectly flat.
    Solution: Clean and stretch the bag’s sealing area.

JARS FOR VACUUM PACKING

The container does not maintain a vacuum
  • Possible cause: Food residues and / or foreign bodies around the vent valve and / or the lid’s seal prevented proper air extraction.
    Solution: Carefully clean and dry the valve and seal and repeat the operation as instructed.
  • Possible cause: The vent valve has not been properly reinserted into the lid.
    Solution: Insert the valve correctly.
  • Possible cause: The valve has accidentally been damaged.
    Solution: Replace the valve by contacting your retailer.
The bag does not remain vacuum-packed after being sealed
  • Possible cause: The bag could have a hole.
    Solution: Check the bag for holes or replace it with a new one.

  • Possible cause: The batteries have not been inserted properly.
    Solution: Check the correct positioning of the batteries.

    Solution: Take the batteries out for 5 minutes and try again.
Accordion Panel
  • Possible cause: The batteries are low. If you are using regular zinc-carbon batteries, you will need to replace them more frequently.
    Solution: Replace the batteries. Use alkaline batteries to increase operating time.
Measurements are extremely low or high
  • Possible cause: The arm band has not been positioned correctly.
    Solution: Re-read the paragraph “Wrapping the arm band”.
  • Possible cause: Wrong posture during measurement.
    Solution: Re-read “Correct Measurement Method”.
  • Possible cause: You moved or talked during while the measurement was being taken or you took your blood pressure at a time when you were particularly nervous and agitated.

Heart rate values are too low or too high
  • Possible cause: You moved around during the measurement.

  • Possible cause: The spray nozzle (No. 12b) has not been inserted inside the ampoule.
    Solution: Insert the spray nozzle into the ampoule as described in fig. 3.
  • Possible cause: The air tube is bent or crushed.
    Solution: Straighten out the air tube.
  • Possible cause: The air filter is clogged or dirty.
    Solution: Replace the air filter with a new one.

FILTERING AND JUGS

Has LAICA complied with the legal obligations regarding water filter jugs?

Yes, LAICA has complied with all legal obligations by informing the Ministry of Health and the Istituto Superiore di Sanità in detail with all the technical scientific papers, laboratory tests and validation tests relating to its filter jugs.

Are LAICA jugs safe?

Yes, LAICA jugs are safe as expressly set forth by Section III of the Consiglio Superiore di Sanità on 14 June 2011, concluding that “on the basis of the scientific evidence available to date, there are no adverse health effects resulting from the use of filter jugs”. In addition, this is confirmed by the most authoritative and prestigious International Certification Bodies to which LAICA has submitted its filter jugs for evaluation.

Are SODIUM and POTASSIUM harmful?

No, sodium and potassium are essential minerals for the correct functioning of body metabolism and LAICA filter jugs do not significantly change the level naturally present in drinking water and determined by law.

Is eliminating/reducing water hardness correct?

The hardness in drinking water is very important for absorbing Calcium and Magnesium (water is a better vehicle than other foods). Important clinical trials validated by the World Health Organisation and the Istituto Superiore di Sanità confirm that water containing calcium and magnesium salts (hardness) has a protective function in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Can hardness lead to kidney stones?

No, that is a fallacy. In fact there is no relationship between calcium, magnesium and the onset of kidney stones.

Why should the pH be balanced?

A balanced pH (i.e. neutral) is preferable to a low pH (acid) for both improved water flavour and because it helps create an alkaline environment in our body, which protects the body against degenerative pathologies that develop in an acidic environment. In addition, clinical studies show that water treatment with alkaline pH can be a useful addition to the therapeutic management of functional digestive syndromes.

Do LAICA jugs release ammonium?

No, LAICA filter systems do not release ammonium, as proven by numerous laboratory analyses. Ammonium is not a healthy element and, at certain concentration levels, is definitely harmful; therefore, it is better that the jugs DO NOT release ammonium.

At the end of its life, can the filter cartridge release what it has retained during its use?

No, the bi-fluxTM filter cartridge retains filtrated impurities even beyond its useful life. Such impurities are fixed by chemical and ionic bonds that do not allow release.

Does boiling water help reduce chlorine and heavy metals?

No, boiling water does not serve this purpose. In fact, heavy metals do not evaporate while chlorine evaporates, but their more dangerous derivatives such as trihalomethanes do not, as they persist at water’s boiling temperature.

Where should I dispose of the cartridge when it is finished?

The cartridge should be disposed of in the normal Dry Waste Container.

Why does the jug need to be washed regularly?

Because the usual cleaning care required for any kitchen utensil (such as plates, glasses, containers, etc.) must be used for the filter jug as well.

Does the cartridge need to be washed?

No, the cartridge should simply be rinsed under running water (without using detergents) when the jug is washed.

If I go on holiday for a week or more and the cartridge has not reached the end of its life, how should I store it?

It is recommended that you wash the jug with water and liquid detergent, rinse the cartridge under running water, dry it thoroughly, place it in the jug and place the jug in the fridge. Before re-using it, rinse the cartridge thoroughly under running water.

What is Silver? Can it be dangerous?

Silver inhibits bacterial growth once chlorine is removed.
Chlorine derivatives are harmful to health, whereas Silver, in the extent to which it is used (following the WHO and Ministry of Health guidelines) is not harmful.

Why does the flow of water often slow down until it suddenly stops?

Sometimes air bubbles can form inside the filter cartridge and they act as “pressure plugs” that prevent the flow of water. To help the filter operate normally again, simply remove it from its housing, dip it into water to release the bubbles, drain it and reinsert it into the hopper.

Do I have to keep the jug in the fridge as indicated in the instructions?

Like all foods, water also maintains its characteristics (organoleptic, pH, flavour and odour) more safely if stored at the usual refrigerator temperature. However, all microbiological analyses conducted at 22° C and 37° C as per the method indicated by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità confirm that there is no bacterial growth.

Why does the filter’s plastic turn black?

The granular charcoal contained in the filter can release a small amount of fine powder which is absolutely NOT harmful and adheres to the walls of the plastic, making it darker. This does not in any way compromise the functionality and effectiveness of the cartridge.

Can I use the jug even without the anti-sediment system and where can I find it?

The filter system used without the anti-sedimentation system maintains the cartridge’s full functionality and effectiveness. The sedimentation system retains any residual sediments without affecting the performance of the jug. Spare anti-sediment filters are available at our retailers.

How long does a filter last and how many litres can actually be filtered?

The filter has a useful life of 1 month / 150 litres, as indicated by its packaging. At the end of its useful life, it does not release the retained substances but becomes less effective in reducing and absorbing unwanted substances.

Do the filters also reduce the presence of limescale?

LAICA offers filters for drinking water that maintain the balance of salts and other minerals for use with tea, coffee and tea kettles, which instead reduce hardness and thus prevent the formation of limescale in such appliances.

Can filtered water be drunk by everyone?

Yes, LAICA filtered water can be drunk by everyone. However, in the case of special diseases or diets, it is recommended to always consult your doctor first.
